Who is Curtis Kenner?

Curtis to some, Curt, to others, was a popular scholastic journalism adviser, professional photographer, and prolific publisher of entertaining pro-Mizzou newsletters; he also wrote an autobiography.

He taught for more that 30 years at three St. Louis Metro high schools–Hancock Place, West County Tech, and Lindbergh H.S, where he finished his career–but continued to mentor new journalism advisers and manage SSP conferences.

He advised both newspaper and yearbooks and enjoyed promoting his son’s career as a professional magician and his daughter’s journalism experiences. When he advised the Lindbergh PILOT Newspaper from 1985-1992, it was one of only two high school weeklies in the state.

Today, his son is the executive producer of Copperfield the Illusionist, and his daughter is the news design coordinator of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

His degrees in education, journalism, and safety education were from SEMO, and Central Missouri St. U. He died May 28, 1996, from diabetes at 57.
